How Did You Find Out?

One topic I love to talk about is the moment you found out you was pregnant! Where were you? What went through your mind? How did you feel? Who was you with? 101 questions I know but I would love to share my story with you and hopefully you will share yours too!

I did briefly tell you my finding out story here but I will recap!

Nick and I had only been trying to conceive for a month and knew that it can take months to become pregnant. So we had in our minds that it would take a while. But a few days after my fertility window closed I just felt totally different. I was an emotional wreck, cranky and exhausted. Then later on I began seeing changes with my body. I knew I was pregnant, just knew it! But I also knew that your body and mind can play tricks on you when it comes to conceiving so I tried not to get my hopes up too much. I wouldn't stop talking about it to my other half. It was almost like I was trying to convince him I was pregnant! We wasn't able to test yet as it was too early so we had to wait it out. What a long wait that was!

I bought a dozen cheap test strips on ebay and I started testing everyday. Everyday there was no little red line. It was still too early to test but I did it anyway. I kept testing, morning, noon and night. Then one morning I was sleepily testing at the crack of dawn and I saw that little red line! I ran into the living room where there is better light and there it was the faintest of red lines but it was a red line none the less! I burst out crying and was saying to myself I knew it, I knew it! I was dancing around my front room on my own like a loon. My better half was at work so I had to refrain from ringing him all day and that wait was dreadful! I just wanted to scream the news to him!

It just so happened that I got my positive test result on the day of our 5 year anniversary too. How perfect was that? It was almost like it was meant to be.

I took another three tests that day just to make sure and lined them all up on the bed for when Nick got home. I remember when he walked through the door and I was just trying to keep the grin off my face. I was literally on cloud 9. I pulled him into the bedroom, pointed down to the tests and said "Happy Anniversary!!"
His face was priceless! We were then both in our element and just could not stop smiling.

I will remember that day forever!

Please share your stories, I would love to hear them!

  1. I still remember you telling me!! We found out the day I was due on. I has no signs what so ever. Neither me nor Mark thought I were pregnant. I took the test, put the test down, glanced as i walked out the bathroom and thought i saw a line. Not really realizing what i'd seen i went in to the bedroom to sit with Mark. He carried on getting ready for work. After the time was up we both raced into the bathroom and there was the line. I cried and we hugged until he had to leave for work.

    1. Yeah! You have been one of the first people I have told about everything! TTC, positive test, when we found out he was a boy!

Awww it is super special though cause you finally got what you was trying for! Strange how you didn't get any symptoms when you was actually pregnant but was symptom spotting the times you weren't! Funny how things go isn't it! x

  2. Love this post. What a beautiful story yours is!

I was the same as you in that we'd just started trying and the next month I was pregnant. I thought it would take months and months!!

I felt unwell at work and thought I had a bug, my friend told me to take a pregnancy test but I didn't think I was pregnant because my colleague felt the same and she had a bug! So I assumed I had the same.

I hadn't had my period, but they'd always muck up but I got Adam to buy a test and did it when I was home.

It was a cheap test so when it said pregnant, I didn't believe it. We went out and brought a clear-blue test straight away, and it confirmed I was pregnant! We we're over the moon! And went and told our parents right away :) Best feeling ever! xxx

  3. Wow what a lovely story yours is.

Mine started when I felt very unwell too, went to the doctors twice in the space of 4 weeks and both times they couldn't find anything wrong with me, the pregnancy tests came back negative that they did. I was booked to have a load of blood tests to establish what was wrong and they even suggested it could be my appendix's playing up. Then all of a sudden I started being really sick each morning, after a week of this I brought myself a test and it was positive, I was also about 6weeks gone :-) It was a massive shock and mixture of emotions as I was on the pill. At the same time relief that nothing more serious was wrong and joy, we had been together for 3 years then and spoken about children, both wanted them but just hadn't planned anything. Now we wouldn't change it for the world, we are both over the moon and awaiting the arrival of a little man in October!! Massive believer that everything happens for a reason.

  4. Awww such a lovely post, its amazing moment really for us all!!

Well it only took like a couple months but I had miscarriage and it mucked up my cycles so I didn't know when I was supposed to be coming on. It was the day before Valentines day, i just had this urge todo a test even though it wasn't 28 days in my cycle (standard cycle) but my boobs had been killing me for 2 weeks and normally they would hurt only for a week before I was due. Anyway I did a test and a faint line popped up, my boyfriend said to retest as it was boots own brand and didnt believe it haha So on Valentines day I did it again and it came up much darker and then the day after we got a clear blue digital to confirm and it came up 2-3weeks pregnant :D I still have a spare clear clue digital test as we got two incase it didnt show the first time haha literally feels like yesterday and im 31weeks4days now!! We didnt tell our parents till 10weeks as we was nervous due to us having a early miscarriage before and then told everyone else at my 12 week scan :)

  6. Aw, such a lovely post! With both of my children I just 'knew' I was pregnant. Something in me felt completely different and I felt...fuller, if you know what I mean?? :S With them both I was out food shopping and something in my head clicked that I should buy a test, went straight home after and tested the next morning and I was pregnant. Found out at 4wks with my first and at 3wks with my second xx

  7. Such a lovely post and way to find out.

We ddin't find out i was pregnant until i was 18 weeks. I was really ill with anaemia and put it down to working too much and no iron as was collapsing at work. Kept on going to the doctors and then one day they asked me could you be pregnant and i said no don't think so she made me do a test then and confirmed i was so she checked my belly and said "i think you're about half way along" I was in shock and didn't knw what to think or do. We were sent to the hospital for a scan later that day as they had availability and found out too that we were having a girl. All in the same day! lol!

  8. We got our positive pregnancy test on our 5 year anniversary too, also successful on our first month of trying (with both pregnancies actually!) With both my pregnancies I had false negatives at first though, despite testing on the day I expected my period. But like you, I just felt pregnant so kept testing and a few days later that second line finally appeared! x

  9. We'd been trying for MONTHS. We lost a baby back in January and were absolutely heartbroken. Having then gone onto to bleed for 2 whole months it was very difficult to spot our babymaking opportunites. For some reason, the month we fell pregnant again, I just knew. I tested wayyyy before my period was due, and everyday thereafter. The lines got stronger and stronger until there was just no doubt xx

  10. With baby 1 it was a complete shock, I had been told I wouldn't conceive naturally but we weren't ready for babies so I decided to just leave it for a while before pursuing any fertility help. Then I felt very ill and eventually saw my GP who advised me I was pregnant! With my current pregnancy we had been trying for approx 10 months and were just about to get help from docs when again I felt sooo ill and took a test at home before work one morning and it was positive. I waited 3 days so I could tell my OH on his birthday and it was amazing. Sucha special moment.

  11. What an adorable way to find out, love it!

Well the one that sticks out the most for me was my 4th child, Jacob {now 5!}. We went through a pretty stressful time, my husband and I were making another go of things following him being unfaithful, he lost his job....we moved house...the lot. So the excess weight I put down to stress, the lack of monthly period I put again, down to stress. Until one afternoon I was stirring the pot of spaghetti bolognese. It was then I felt an all too familiar kick! I stopped in my tracks, and sure as the sky is blue, there was another kick.
I said to my husband "I think we have a little ninja in our midst", he smiled. The next morning I did a test before going into work, the lines could not of been ANY clearer! I was overcome with a joy as if my unborn baby was thrilled that I was finally aware they were there. I did my period math and it turns out we were into our 21st gestational week! Shortest pregnancy ever! lol x

  12. Aw that's such a nice way to find out and on your anniversary too! Great story :)

I found out on New Year's eve. I noticed I was late and thought I'd take a test on the total off chance I was pregnant. I bought the cheapest one in Boots as I didn't believe it and even tested alone without my husband as I was sure I was just over reacting (I didn't have any symptoms either). So when it came back positive I was sooo surprised. I told hubby later that night after the bells and it ended up being such an exciting way to start the new year <3
